Content components We’re installing lighting along the path at Victoria Road Reserve in East Hawthorn.This responds to a request from nearby residents to help make the path safer in the evenings for people walking to Auburn Station or Auburn Village.Construction is scheduled to start on Monday 2 February and is expected to finished by Friday 27 March (weather permitting). Works will take place from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm (excluding public holidays). We may need to work some Saturdays. How you may be impacted during constructionThe oval and playground will stay open.A walking detour will be in place between the playground and the childcare centre.You may hear construction noise.Builders’ vehicles will use some car spaces in the car park off Victoria Road. About the lightingThe lighting includes:handrail lights along the oval fence, between the playground and the bollard light that’s near the kindergarten and childcare centrea 5-metre light pole near the path to Rathmines Road. We’ve selected this type of lighting because:it focuses light on the path, minimising light spill on the surrounding areait uses energy-efficient LED lightingit uses a warm colour at a low-level setting, minimising the impact on wildlife and the surrounding neighbourhood.
