Content components Between February and May 2026, we installed lighting along the path at Victoria Road Reserve in East Hawthorn.This responded to a request from nearby residents to help make the path safer in the evenings for people walking to Auburn Station or Auburn Village.About the lightingThe lighting includes:handrail lights along the oval fence, between the playground and the bollard light that’s near the kindergarten and childcare centrea 5-metre light pole near the path to Rathmines Road. We selected this type of lighting because:it focuses light on the path, minimising light spill on the surrounding areait uses energy-efficient LED lightingit uses a warm colour at a low-level setting, minimising the impact on wildlife and the surrounding neighbourhood. The lights will operate:Monday to Friday, from dusk until 10 pmSaturdays, Sundays and public holidays, from dusk until midnight.This schedule may change to accommodate the times allocated to sporting clubs at this oval.
