About
We’re renewing the sportsground at Greythorn Park in Balwyn North as part of our reconstruction program. This will make sure the sportsground meets the needs of local sports clubs and the wider community well into the future.
Works include:
- a new playing surface, irrigation system and drainage to better support current use and reduce instances of sportsground closures
- a new synthetic cricket pitch
- installation of a water tank between the cricket nets and electronic scoreboard on the south-west side of the sportsground. The tank will be 4.6m in diameter and 3.4m in height.
We’re also redeveloping the pavilion at Greythorn Park. Read about the Greythorn Park pavilion community consultation.
During construction
Works to the sportsground are expected to begin in September 2025 and be completed by mid-2026. The sportsground won’t be accessible during this time. A small number of car parking spaces will be used by the contractor for a laydown/site shed area. Works will occur Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some Saturday works may occur if required.
Other areas of Greythorn Park, including the playground, grassed recreation space, tennis club and scout hall will remain accessible during the works. There’s also green open space behind the pavilion, which can be used for recreation. We encourage you to use nearby Gordon Barnard Reserve, Hislop Park or Leigh Park.
