We’re upgrading the lighting next to Highfield Park pavilion and sportsground. It’ll make the car park and the path between the north and south ovals safer for park users and the sports clubs.

There are currently 4 light poles, which are between 7 to 9m in height. We’ll remove these and replace them with 12 light poles, which are 5m in height.

The below map shows Highfield Park, where the 4 current lights will be removed, and where the 12 new lights will be installed.

A path between Highfield Park north and south ovals, going east from Highfield road. There are 4 blue dots indicating where the current lights are positioned, and 12 yellow dots where the new lights are proposed to be placed. They are roughly evenly spaced along the path.

Key features of the lighting include:

  • consistent and energy-efficient LED lighting that meets Australian standards
  • controlled timing, including the ability to automatically turn the lights off to ensure they don’t stay on after Council’s nominated hours of:
    • Monday to Friday – on from dusk and off by 9 pm
    • Saturdays – on from dusk and off by 10 pm
    • Sunday – on from dusk until 9 pm.

This may change slightly based on the sports clubs’ allocated times at Highfield Park.

Timeline

Work to upgrade the lighting will start from January 2026 and is due to be completed by April 2026, subject to weather.
