Content components I am delighted and honoured to have been voted in by my councillor colleagues to serve as your Mayor for our 2025–26 year. I look forward to assisting our very dedicated team of councillors and officers deliver on the many challenging and exciting projects and initiatives we are currently working on and evolving for our Boroondara community. As we wind up another year there’s much to celebrate. Two recent projects stand out to me.It’s exciting to see our Boroondara Community Plan 2025–35 come to life after being endorsed in late-October. The plan is essentially our roadmap, steering our decisions based on what you’ve told us matters. You’ll see us focusing on key areas like protecting our climate and environment, balancing growth, amenity and heritage, maintaining our community infrastructure and providing services that support wellbeing for everyone. Sustainability is a high priority for our community. Our new Greenways network, launched in October, champions active and sustainable travel along our off-road paths. And we’ll soon start planting thousands of native plants alongside to support biodiversity. Corridors for trees, wildlife and clean active travel – I can’t think of a better way to bring these important elements together.Christmas and the summer holidays are nearly here. I hope you can take time to relax with loved ones and recharge after a busy year. But before you do, head down to some of the fantastic festive events lined up by local businesses and community groups. I’m told Santa will make several appearances for photos with the kids. There will be carols, music, family fun days and a focus on friendly local shopping. Merry Christmas to you – and I wish you a happy and healthy new year in 2026.Cr Wes GaultMayor of Boroondara
