Content components I’m delighted to open this message with news about 2 practical Council initiatives that can make a genuine difference to your household budget and help cut our community emissions. For the first time we’re offering residents a free home energy assessment as well as subsidies of up to $2,000 to make your place more energy efficient. Boroondara’s famed for its leafy green neighbourhoods, but in recent years our tree canopy has been dwindling, in large part due to significant losses on the North East Link project. We want to reverse this trend and ultimately build our canopy cover to 30%. This will help create cooler streets in summer, cleaner air for our children, and more liveable spaces for current and future generations. We’re asking for your help to do this – by planting a tree or 2 at your place. This festival of live music and culture in our beautiful parks, which is such a celebration of Boroondara, attracted record crowds, including more than 1,000 at Classical in the Park in Alexandra Gardens and roughly 2,000 at Opera in the Park at Canterbury Gardens. Watch this space for next year’s offerings.Cr Wes GaultMayor of Boroondara
