Content components We’re upgrading the pavilion at Greythorn Park to: make it accessible and inclusiveimprove its functionalitymeet the needs of local sports clubs and our community. We’re doing this because the current building:doesn’t have female friendly change rooms, toilets and showersdoesn’t have a multipurpose room suitable for groups who use the pavilion to gatheris too small to meet the needs of local sports clubs doesn’t meet the standards of our Development and Funding of Community Pavilions: Sport and Recreation Policy. We’re investing approximately $5.1 million into this pavilion upgrade. We are also upgrading the sportsground at Greythorn Park. Project status and construction informationWe expect construction to start in late January 2026 and finish by early 2027.The pavilion and existing public toilet will be closed during construction. The orange area on the map shows the fenced construction zone for safety.During construction, sports clubs will use temporary change rooms, toilets, and storage, which we will install in part of the northern car park next to the playground. During construction: a temporary public toilet will be available next to the playground the southern car park off Alpha Street will closeHalf of the parking spaces in the northern car park next to the playground will stay open and can be accessed from Robert Streetthe playground will stay open as usual. Construction will happen on weekdays between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. From time to time, works may occur on Saturdays between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm but this will be kept to a minimum. Community consultationFrom November 2024 to February 2025, we asked for feedback on the draft design for the pavilion and we heard from 205 people with mixed views. We updated the design based on their feedback and shared the final design in mid-2025.You can find out what we heard and view the final design on the Greythorn Park pavilion upgrade consultation page. Final design The design for the upgraded pavilion includes: a flexible multipurpose space with a kitchen4 changerooms with bathroom facilities suitable for women and girls improved lighting around the building and the car park for better safety an accessible ramp and car parka public toilet with external access for the communityretaining the current park furniture around the pavilion and adding more, such as bicycle hoops a first aid rooman extended sheltered spectator viewing area.Trees To accommodate the increased size of the pavilion, one Eucalyptus tree to the rear of the existing building will be removed. We will offset any required tree removal by planting new trees on the site.Car parking There are currently 79 car parking spaces across the reserve. Eight car parking spaces will be removed in the southern car park next to the pavilion, to allow enough space for access around the building.
