On this page Content components We’re upgrading Frog Hollow Reserve pavilion to: make it accessible and inclusiveimprove its functionality. The upgrade will create a better connection between the pavilion and other key features in the reserve, including the oval, playground, parkland, Anniversary Trail and cricket nets. We’re investing approximately $5.65million into this pavilion upgrade. Project status Demolition of the current pavilion has started. Construction of the upgraded pavilion is expected to start from mid-January 2025 and be completed by late 2025 to early 2026.The sports clubs who use the pavilion require temporary change room amenities and storage containers to use during the construction period. These are installed on the north oval. A temporary accessible toilet has also been installed near the cricket nets on the south oval for use by sports clubs and spectators on training and match days. During the construction period: the oval, playground and the Anniversary Trail remain open for our community to usevisitors can park on the street around the reserve, but please always check the signs for any parking restrictionsthe nearest public toilet is located at East Camberwell Tennis Club (around 700m away). All construction will happen on weekdays between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. As always, we aim to keep disruption to a minimum. Community consultation From 28 June to 30 July 2023, we asked you for feedback on a draft design for the pavilion. Thank you to everyone who had their say. We received positive support from most of the 46 people who provided feedback. You can find out what our community told us, how their feedback shaped the final design, and view the final design on our Frog Hollow Reserve pavilion upgrade consultation page. Final design We have carefully considered the design of the upgraded pavilion to make sure it: supports our sustainability effortsincreases accessibilitycomplements the character of the areameets the requirements of our community pavilions policyis a welcoming, inclusive and useful place for the community. The design for the upgraded pavilion includes: 4 new inclusive change rooms with unisex amenities and a retractable wall2 new umpire roomsa first aid room to allow for better injury management onsitea new undercover spectator areaa new multipurpose roomrelocating the BBQ facilities and picnic tableupgraded water station for dogsbicycle hoopsa unisex accessible public toilet with internal and external accessimprovements to the kitchen and kiosk areasincreased storage spacesupgrades to the external pavilion lighting for improved safety. Due to flood levels within the area, we had to raise the floor height of the pavilion to comply with authority requirements. As a result, the upgraded pavilion will also include access ramps and stairs into the building. Trees The location of the function room and change room buildings means there is minimal impact to the existing surrounding eucalyptus trees. However, there were 6 deteriorating eucalyptus trees we have removed. There's also one large eucalyptus tree in good health which needed to be removed. We will offset these removals by planting new trees on the site. We will also install protective fencing around all remaining trees within the construction zone.Car parking We are removing one parking space from the car park to create better pedestrian access to the playground and pavilion from the car park. The other 19 existing car parks will remain unchanged.Timeline When Stage Progress update Late-2022 Develop draft designWe consulted with the sports clubs and Hawthorn U3A that currently use the pavilion buildings.
