Boroondara’s greatest strength is its people… their knowledge, commitment and experience.

Every week I see it. Residents raising safety concerns, volunteers running local clubs, traders adapting to change. These voices don’t just reflect our community, they shape its future.

That was clear at the recent Neighbourhood Policing Forum, where local residents shared real, lived experiences, the kind of detail only a community can see, and police listened closely. Insights like these help ensure their strategies reflect what’s actually happening on the ground, and the forum was a strong reminder of how valuable that exchange is for keeping our neighbourhoods safe.

October also brings opportunities to connect in new ways. On Sunday 12 October, we’ll host the Electrify Your Life Expo. This is your chance to see the latest technology, learn from experts and take part in workshops. Everything from EVs, induction cooktops, solar and batteries to heat pumps and more.

It’s practical, hands-on and designed to give you the confidence to make the switch and slash your energy bills.

And October is also Biketober – a fun way to get back on the bike, log rides and win prizes, while encouraging healthier, safer, more sustainable ways of moving around our city. Ride on your own or form a team, and schools can take part too.

The strength of Boroondara lies in what we do together!
