Content components We’re upgrading the playground at Trafalgar Road Reserve in Camberwell due to its age and condition. About the upgradeThis playground upgrade aims to:build a playground which meets the needs of children and families into the futureimprove accessibilityoffer a range of fun play experiences that caters to a range of ages and abilities.Exciting new features of the new playground include: a main unit with ladders, monkey bars, pommel steppers, climbing challenges and a 2.4 metre twisty tube slide a swing set with 3 swings an accessible spinnera 4-person rockera nature play area with a bush hut a rope tunnela 1.2 metre slide and rubber play mounds with built-in climbing holds. Other features in the wider playground area include:relocating the playground closer to the car park at the top of the reserve, with fencing to provide separationexpanding and levelling the lawn to provide more open space for picnics, sports and playinstalling 3 new seats - one within the playground and 2 overlooking the lawnadding a new picnic setting near the bush hutcreating a new accessible path looping the playground and connecting down to the lawn, with pram ramps at both entrancesbike hooppram rampsTree planting and removalOur arborists recently visited the reserve for a site inspection. They found that a Claret Ash tree near the lawn area is in poor health. The tree has been affected by a fungal disease called Ash Dieback, and unfortunately it is unlikely to recover.To keep the area safe, we need to remove the tree as part of the upgrade. To replace this tree, we will plant 9 new native trees as part of the upgrade. Community consultationWe invited our community to share feedback to help guide the design for the new playground.We received feedback over 2 rounds of consultation in mid-2025 and late-2025.
