Content components We’re upgrading the playground at Reservoir Reserve in Kew due to its age and condition.About the upgradeThis playground upgrade aims to:build a playground which meets the needs of children and families into the futureimprove accessibilityoffer a range of fun play experiences that caters to a range of ages and abilities.Key features of the new playground include:main play unit with ramp access and multiple slides of different sizes4-swing set with 1 toddler seat, 2 sling seats and 1 inclusive seataccessible play equipment including inclusive swing, spinner and pictograph signageconcrete scoot track with traffic signs and line markingrecycling themed play equipment featuring an interactive waste truck with ramp for wheelchair access, a recycling centre hut and bike and scooter charging station.Other features to be included in the wider playground space include:relocation of seat, picnic tables and drinking fountain to better serve people using the playgrounda new shelter over one of the picnic tablesrefreshed footpath surface. To make way for the new scooter track, we’ll be removing 2 trees which are located close to Grange Road. These trees have been assessed by arborist:the Agonis flexuosa Willow Myrtle has wounds and decay at its basethe Ulmus parvifolia Chinese Elm, a regrown stump, has poor structure and a short life expectancy.To replace these trees, we plan to plant 13 new trees, including these native varieties:Acacia pendula Weeping MyallBuckinghamia celsissima Ivory Curl FlowerCallistemon viminalis 'Dawson River Weeper' Bottlebrush 'Dawson River Weeper'Corymbia eximia Yellow BloodwoodEucalyptus macrandra Long-flowered MarlockHakea laurina Pincushion HakeaYarra Valley WaterReservoir Reserve’s playground is on land owned by Yarra Valley Water. We’re working with Yarra Valley Water throughout the design and construction process.Community consultationWe invited our community to share feedback to help guide the design for the new playground.We received feedback over 2 rounds of consultation in 2025.
