It’s a big year for playgrounds with 2 newly reopened, 5 soon to be built and more upgrades on the way. Read on for the latest updates.
The upgraded Dorothy Laver Reserve East playground in Ashburton and South Surrey Park playground in Surrey Hills recently opened.
Head to Dorothy Laver Reserve East for its much-loved castle-themed playground which now has 2 slides, a rope bridge, a drawbridge, ‘Dorothy Laver Market’ cubby house, spiral play tunnel, swings and monkey bars.
At South Surrey Park playground you’ll find many inclusive and wheelchair-accessible features such as a basket swing, carousel with a seat, a pulley-play system and self-closing gates. There’s also a big new play unit, agility trail, bird hide and quadruple swing set.

Later this year we’ll share the draft design for a new playground at Lewin Reserve in Glen Iris and start planning a new playground at H. A. Smith Reserve in Hawthorn.
