Immunisation helps protect our community from serious diseases by using our body's natural defence system to build resistance to a disease.
If you're immunised against a disease, you're far less likely to catch that disease. However, if you do catch the disease your:
- immune system will remember it and respond better to it
- illness will be less severe
- recovery will be quicker than someone who isn't immunised.
Getting vaccinated is an important part of immunisation.
Appointments
All immunisation sessions are by appointment only. This helps our service to manage attendance numbers and follow social distancing requirements.
Changes to our immunisation sessions due to COVID-19
To keep our community safe, we've made some changes to the way we manage our immunisation sessions.
Face masks and clothing
If you are over 12 years old, you must wear a face mask for your appointment. You can find out more information about masks on the Victorian Government's Coronavirus website-external site.
Make sure you wear short sleeve or loose-fitting clothes. This will make it easier to administer the vaccine.
Check-in procedures
If you or your child are feeling unwell on the day of your appointment with a fever, runny nose, sore throat, or cough, you must reschedule. You won't be charged a fee for cancelling appointments.
Hand sanitiser is available at the entrance.
Please don't arrive any earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment. You'll be asked to come back closer to your appointment time if you arrive too early.
One parent or guardian can come with a child to their appointment.
Immunisation venues
We're currently providing immunisation sessions at:
