Held annually, the Boroondara Sports Awards program recognises the important role sports clubs play to:

  • improve community health and wellbeing
  • increase participation in physical activity
  • foster social connection.

Nominations for the 2023 Boroondara Sports Awards will open in March 2023.

Award categories

Sports clubs, volunteers, and members can be nominated under six award categories.

Each category supports our vision that all people in Boroondara, regardless of their circumstances, will have opportunities to actively participate in sports and recreation activities.

Inclusive Club of the Year

A club that has delivered a program, event, or project which primarily focuses on welcoming and engaging underrepresented groups/communities to the sports club.

Innovative Club of the Year

A club that has delivered a program, event, or project which primarily focuses on providing a new/different experience for members or new/different ways of attracting new participants.

Collaborative Club of the Year

A club that has delivered a program, event, or project where a significant effort has been made to partner with the local community, Council, organisations, or other clubs for the benefit of the club and the local community.

Club Person of the Year

A volunteer or club representative over the age of 18 who goes above and beyond their duties and adds remarkable value to the sports club.

Young Club Person of the Year

A volunteer or club representative under the age of 18 who goes above and beyond their duties and adds remarkable value to the sports club.

Lifetime Achievement

A club member who has had a significant impact on the development of a sports club in the City of Boroondara for over 25 years.
