Renewal works at Rowen Street Kindergarten are due to commence in early 2023.

We are renewing the building to better meet the needs of children, families, and the teaching team at the kindergarten, now and into the future.

The Victorian Government has contributed $300,000 to this project as part of its Building Blocks Early Learning Capacity Building grants program.

Renewal works are expected to commence in early 2023 and be completed by mid-2023, weather permitting.

About the project

We have worked with the kindergarten’s committee of management and families to develop a concept design.

Refurbishment works will include:

  • Extension of one of the kindergarten rooms
  • A better layout to create easier access to the kindergarten rooms from the foyer
  • Upgrades to the entry, foyer, and toilets to make the building accessible for people of all abilities
  • A new shared office and planning area with a kitchenette
  • A new meeting room.

During construction

During the construction period, works will occur inside the building and at the entryway.
Works will occur on weekdays between 7 am and 6 pm, and may also occur on Saturdays between 9 am and 5 pm.

We will aim to minimise disruptions to neighbouring residents as much as possible.

Once work begins, you may notice an increase in activity on site, including construction vehicles. These vehicles may need access to street parking, but this should result in minimal impact to surrounding residents. Temporary traffic changes may be introduced as needed.

Kindergarten program relocation

During these works, the kindergarten program will temporarily relocate to Parkhill Primary School (4A Parkhill Drive, Ashwood).

The school will be sharing part of their learning environment with the kindergarten, including the many specialty learning spaces.
