Book a bundled green waste collection

Bookings for April have closed. Bookings for the October collections will open in September.

Residents who have their kerbside bins collected by us can book a bundled green waste collection. This is for green waste that doesn't fit in the food organics and garden organics (FOGO) bin.

You can book 2 collections a year, one in April and one in October.

Book in your collection at least one week before you want your green waste collected. This will make sure our contractors can fit your collection into their schedules.

Your bundled green waste will be collected between Monday to Friday during your chosen week.

Apartment and unit bookings

If you live in an apartment block where bins are collected by us and with 7 or more units, your body corporate or managing agent needs to make the booking for you.

What we collect

  • Tree branches and prunings (up to 7.5 cm wide and 1.5 m long, securely tied with non-plastic string or twine in bundles of up to 30 cm diameter)
  • Single tree limbs with no branches or leaves (up to 20 cm wide and 1.5 m long)
  • Tree roots that can be lifted by one person

We do not collect food waste, green waste over the maximum size, timber or tree stumps.

Prepare for a green waste collection

You can put your waste out the weekend before collection. But to avoid people adding to your pile, put it out the night before.

The size of your pile can't be bigger than 2 m³. This is around what would fit into 2 small trailers.

Where to put your bundled green waste

Put the waste on the nature strip outside your house or apartment.

Keep the footpath clear and easy to access. It's helpful if there are no vehicles parked in front of your pile.

How to bundle and stack green waste

Tie your green waste with string or twine in bundles and stack it neatly.

We will only collect your waste if it's tied with string or twine.

Your waste will not be collected if it's tied with other materials such as:

    • wire
    • plastic string or ties
    • stockings.

Don't put your waste in boxes or bags.

    Avoid fines

You might get a fine if there are items in your green waste pile that we don't accept.

If people add to your green waste pile and you're worried about going over the maximum amount, you can:

    Book a Christmas tree collection

Each December, residents who have their kerbside bins collected by us can book a Christmas tree collection for January.

Collections run from Monday 2 January to Friday 3 February 2023 for real trees only (no artificial trees).

Book in your collection at least one week before you want your Christmas tree collected. This will help us plan our collection schedule.

Your tree will be collected sometime between Monday to Friday on your chosen week.

Put your Christmas tree on the nature strip outside your property. You can put your tree out the weekend before collection. This helps to keep your street looking neat. Please keep the footpath clear.

Only real trees will be collected, not plastic ones. We turn them into mulch to use in our parks and gardens.

Bookings for January 2023 are now closed. Bookings for the next collection will open in December 2023.

    Change or cancel a collection

    Please call (03) 9278 4444 to:

    • change the date of your collection
    • cancel it.

We need at least 2 business days' notice.
