A safe community is one where people feel connected and able to participate. We focus on community safety by promoting health and wellbeing, increasing community connections and working with relevant agencies to prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime. This helps everyone feel safer both day and night.

We work closely with Victoria Police, Boroondara Neighbourhood Watch and other agencies to deliver community safety initiatives. These initiatives connect residents with each other and local services and provide access to relevant safety information.

Events and workshops

We run regular events and workshops on important issues such as:

  • scams
  • neighbourhood safety and crime prevention
  • preventing family violence
  • social cohesion.

We also recognise important annual campaigns such as Community Safety Month, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence and Cultural Diversity Week.

For more information about upcoming events and educational workshops, visit our events page.

Community Safety Advisory Committee

We run the Boroondara Community Safety Advisory Committee. This committee builds partnerships between Council, police and community groups to share information, provide feedback and discuss initiatives to address community safety concerns.

For more information about Council and our community advisory committees, visit our Advisory and other committees page.
