Council takes Tree Protection Local Law offences seriously. The information on this page provides summary details of successful prosecutions for offences determined at court over the past 3 years (2021-2024). When there’s sufficient evidence, prosecution in the Magistrates Court is sought for matters which involve repeat and severe offending. Prosecution in the Magistrates Court is also undertaken for unpaid infringements and non-compliance with permit conditions requiring replacement tree planting.Matters determined in the Magistrates Court are part of the public record and details can be obtained from each Magistrates Court venue. Most of our matters are heard at Melbourne Magistrates' Court. This information will be updated regularly as new matters are prosecuted.
