BooST home energy upgrade program and home energy assessments

Eligible Boroondara residents can access an energy upgrade subsidy of up to $2,000 and a free home energy assessment through the BooST (Boroondara’s Sustainable Transition) initiative.

By making a few simple changes in your home, you can improve comfort, reduce your energy bills and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Home energy upgrade subsidies

A one-off discount of up to $2,000 is available to homeowners to install low-cost, high-impact energy-efficiency and electrification upgrades. This offer is delivered in partnership with HP Energy. 

Eligible upgrades include:

• insulation
• draught-proofing
• solar panels
• home batteries
• induction cooktops
• heat pump hot water systems
• electric vehicle (EV) chargers

Eligibility

• Energy upgrade subsidies are available only for Boroondara homeowners.
• If your household received a BooST subsidy between March and July 2026, you are ineligible for further subsidies.
• Each household is eligible for an energy upgrade subsidy of up to $2,000 with one supplier only. Your supplier will tell you if you're eligible for further state or federal government rebates.
• Businesses are not eligible.

2. Complete and submit an enquiry form.

Our supplier will contact you within 5 business days. 

Free home energy assessments

Home energy assessments are made by a qualified expert to help you understand how much energy your home uses. This offer is delivered in partnership with the Boroondara Home Energy Program, formerly known as Solar Savers.

Eligibility

• Free home energy assessments are available to all Boroondara residents, including renters and homeowners. 
• Each property is eligible for one free home energy assessment every 5 years.
• Businesses are not eligible.

Register for a free home energy assessment 

1. Go to the Boroondara Home Energy Program website
2. Select ‘Energy Assessments’ and enter the required details about your living situation.
3. Select an assessor and submit the form.

Vetted supplier/s will contact you around 3 business days after you register. 

You're under no obligation to act on information or quotes you receive, but if you choose to, you can work directly with your vetted supplier to arrange a home energy inspection.
