If you've received a decision from Council that you don't agree with or you have concerns about a particular Council process, you can request a review of this decision or process.

We'll look at your request openly and objectively to make sure it receives a fair review.

Note: If your request is related to a planning, local laws, parking fines, building or health services decision or process, you need to use the specific review procedures for these areas.

Step 1: Discuss your concerns

Call Council on 9278 4444 and ask to speak to the manager responsible for the area where the decision was made or the process is followed.

Take this opportunity to discuss your concerns with the manager to reach a reasonable outcome.

Step 2: Request a review

If you are unable to reach a reasonable outcome and you don't feel your issue has been fairly addressed by the responsible manager, you can:

With your request, you'll need to include:

  • your name, email, phone number and street address
  • name of the manager you've been dealing with and their response
  • details of your concerns and why you'd like a review.

We'll send you an email or letter to confirm we've received your request.

Step 3: Decision review

Once your request is received, we'll assess it and let you know approximately how long the review will take.

Some requests may be escalated to the Chief Executive Officer for resolution, who can then request an independent external review, if required.

You'll receive a response by email or mail, clearly explaining the review process and decision.

If you're still not satisfied with the outcome, you can contact the Victorian Ombudsman to request a review of the decision.
