Content components We’re currently trialling new Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) baskets on public bins across Boroondara to help keep drink containers out of landfill and refunds in your pockets. How to use the basketsIf you finish a drink in a can, bottle or carton with a 10c symbol, you can leave your eligible containers in the basket, instead of throwing them in the bin. To learn more about eligible containers, visit the CDS Victoria website. If you’re collecting containers for refunds, these baskets are free for everyone to use. You can take containers from the basket and take them to your nearest refund point to receive 10 cents per item.Where to find the basketsIn June 2026, we started installing baskets on bins.Use the map to find baskets in your local area. We’ll update this map as we continue installing the 200 baskets so check back for updated locations.Last updated: 15 July 2026 Why we’re doing thisDrink containers are one of the most common items found in public bins, especially in our parks. By using the baskets and sharing the refund during this trial, you’re helping us try new ways to keep our parks and streets clean and keep recyclable materials out of landfill. What will happen nextWe’ll review the trial after 12 months. If it’s successful, we’ll explore keeping these baskets on our bins, making it even easier to recycle when you’re out and about. If you have questions about these installations, email Visy at [email protected].
