Some of our services are closed or have different hours on the King's Birthday public holiday, Monday 9 June.

We aim to collect your bin by 1 pm on your collection day.

If your bin has not been emptied by 1 pm on your bin collection day, let us know within 2 business days so we can arrange another collection. Find out your collection day on our Find your bin day page.

We don't collect bins on Good Friday, Christmas Day or New Year's Day. To check collections on other public holidays, visit our Changes to Council services on public holidays page.

Report a missed bin collection

Please contact us within 2 business days

We can't return to collect bins that are reported after 2 business days.

Reasons for missed bin collection

Your bin might not have been collected because it:

  • was overflowing
  • wasn't visible to the collection trunk because something was blocking its view
  • wasn't put out in time on its allocated collection day
  • was not a City of Boroondara-issued bin
  • contained contaminated content
  • included waste we cannot collect
  • was not your scheduled collection week (to find when your bins are collected, visit our Find your bin day page).

We'll leave a card in your letterbox to tell you what the issue is and what action to take. Complete the required action and then contact us to request your bin to be emptied.

It's your responsibility to remove contaminated materials from your bin (even if you weren't responsible for placing them there).

What happens next

After you have reported your missed bin collection, leave your bin in its usual collection spot.

If the missed bin was reported within 48 hours of collection day, we'll empty it within 2 business days. Otherwise, it will be emptied on the next collection day.

Missed waste and green waste bins may be collected on a Saturday, but not recycling bins.
