About the Mont Iris Estate and Environs Precinct Review

Council has completed its review of the Mont Iris Estate and Environs Precinct following the decision by the Urban Planning Delegated Committee on 2 May 2022. The meeting can be viewed on our Urban Planning Delegated Committee - 2 May 2022 page.

Following a detailed heritage assessment, our heritage consultant has recommended the following precincts and individual properties for inclusion in the heritage overlay:

  • HO954 - House, 7 Fuller Avenue, Glen Iris
  • HO955 - House, 33 Fuller Avenue, Glen Iris
  • HO956 - Dent Street Precinct, Glen Iris (6-28 & 40-60 Dent Street, Glen Iris)
  • HO957 - High Street North Precinct, Glen Iris (127-141 High Street & 152 Summerhill Road, Glen Iris)
  • HO958 - Tower Hill Estate Precinct, Glen Iris and Ashburton (2-28 & 1-33 Tower Hill Road, Glen Iris, 2-32 Munro Avenue, Ashburton, 142-146 High Street, Glen Iris, 146A-148 High Street, Ashburton).

Current status – October 2025

Council adopted the amendment at the Council meeting on 25 March 2024, the amendment has been submitted to the Minister for Planning for a final decision.

The Department of Transport and Planning have extended the interim heritage overlays through Amendment C420boro until 30 June 2026 while the permanent HO controls are considered via Amendment C394boro. Amendment C420boro came into operation on 27 August 2025 when a Notice of Approval was published in the Victorian Government Gazette.
