BooST free home energy assessments and energy upgrade subsidies

Subsidies for energy upgrades are on hold due to high demand, and exhaustion of funds. If you have already submitted an enquiry, please be patient, a supplier from Solar Savers will get back to you as soon as possible. All enquiries received up until Tuesday 12 May will be eligible for the subsidy.

Eligible Boroondara residents can access a free home energy assessment and an energy upgrade subsidy of up to $2,000 through the BooST (Boroondara’s Sustainable Transition) initiative, currently delivered in partnership with Solar Savers.

About these offers 

Home energy assessments are made by a qualified expert to help you understand how much energy your home uses.

A one-off discount of up to $2,000 is available to install low-cost, high-impact energy-efficiency and electrification upgrades from Solar Savers-approved suppliers. Eligible upgrades include:

• solar panels (check if you need a permit to install solar panels)
• batteries
• heat pump hot water systems
• split systems
• insulation
• draught proofing
• induction cooktops
• electric vehicle chargers.

Eligibility

• Free home energy assessments are available to all Boroondara residents (ie renters and homeowners). Each property is eligible for one free home energy assessment every 5 years.
• You may request quotes from up to three home energy assessment providers, but you can only book one free assessment with a single provider.
• Energy upgrade subsidies are available only for Boroondara homeowners.
• Each household is eligible for an energy upgrade subsidy of up to $2,000 with one supplier only. Your supplier will tell you if you're eligible for further state or federal government rebates.
• These offers have been extended from the original program completion date of 31 December 2026 until 30 June 2027* or until funds are exhausted.
• Businesses are not eligible.
• These offers are only available when you apply via the Solar Savers website and proceed with a Solar Savers-approved supplier.

*Through either Solar Savers or an alternative provider.
