Find the right contact for your drain or water problem.

Council drains

Our drain system collects stormwater from rain that runs off surfaces. It includes pipes, kerbs, open waterways and channels.

  • We’ll clear Council-owned blocked drains.
  • We’ll fix a damaged outlet pipe where it’s been damaged by one of our assets, such as a tree on a nature strip.
  • We'll look after Council-owned stormwater drains and pits, which are often in the kerb or road area.
  • We’ll look after Council-owned easement drains on your property as well as those in Council carparks, gardens and parks.

Use our online form to report a blocked or broken Council drain. Our field crew will use the details you provide to respond to your request during business hours.

Report a drain problem

In an emergency, call us on (03) 9278 4444 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week).

You can't use our stormwater drains to get rid of groundwater or wastewater from sinks, bathtubs, showers, baths, laundries, toilets and swimming pools. These must connect to the sewer.

Private drains

If drains or pipes in your property are blocked or leaking, including stormwater pipes to the kerb and channel in the nature strip, as well as under the footpath and nature strip, this is your responsibility. In these cases, we recommend calling a plumber.

Contact our Health Services team on (03) 9278 4710 if your drain smells or is foamy.

Contact Yarra Valley Water on 132 762 if:

  • your water mains or sewerage has burst
  • you're having problems with your water supply.

Speak with your neighbour if water is coming onto your land from their property.
