About the Mont Iris estate and environs precinct review

We have completed our review of the Mont Iris estate and environs precinct following the decision by the Urban Planning Delegated Committee on 2 May 2022. The meeting can be viewed on our Urban Planning Delegated Committee - 2 May 2022 page.

Following a detailed heritage assessment, our heritage consultant has recommended the following precincts and individual properties for inclusion in the heritage overlay:

  • Dent Street Precinct (6 to 28 and 40 to 60 Dent Street, Glen Iris)
  • High Street North Precinct (127 to 141 High Street, Glen Iris and 152 Summerhill Road)
  • Tower Hill Estate Precinct, Glen Iris and Ashburton
  • 7 Fuller Avenue, Glen Iris
  • 33 Fuller Avenue, Glen Iris.

Current status (November 2022)

We have lodged a request with the Minister for Planning to remove the interim heritage overlay that was previously applied as part of Amendment C334boro and extended. You will be notified once the interim heritage overlay has been removed by the Minister for Planning.

Next steps

Interim HO controls will remain in place for properties recommended for inclusion in the heritage overlay (HO) with an expiry on Sunday 21 January 2024. Interim controls will be removed from properties no longer recommended for inclusion. Amendment C394boro will be lodged concurrently for permanent heritage overlays over the recommended sites.
