We’re upgrading the local playground at South Surrey Park, on the corner of Verdun Street and Lille Street in Surrey Hills, due to its age and condition.
About the upgrade
This playground upgrade aims to:
- offer a diverse range of play activities, experiences and equipment
- improve accessibility around the playground
- meet the needs of children and families into the future.
Key features of the new playground include:
- a play unit with 2 slides, climbing ramp, ground-level interactive play and bucket and pulley system
- quadruple swing set and separate basket swing
- inclusive spinner
- agility trail with track glide, monkey bars and balance beam
- double spring rocker
- find and discover nature artwork.
Community consultation
We invited our community to share feedback to help guide the design for the new playground.
We heard from 145 people over 2 rounds of consultation in 2024 and early 2025. Thank you to everyone who had their say.

Construction of the new playground is expected to start within this financial year.
