The Boroondara Literary Awards 2022 judging panel is comprised of Australian authors Alice Pung, Lili Wilkinson and Nam Le.

Young Writers Poetry – Alice Pung

Alice Pung is an award-winning Australian writer whose books include Unpolished Gem (2006) and Her Father’s Daughter (2011), and the novels Laurinda (2014) and One Hundred Days (2021). She is the editor of the anthology Growing Up Asian in Australia (2008). Her children’s books include the Marly books for the Our Australian Girl series, When Granny Came to Stay (2022) and the forthcoming Be Careful, Xiao Xin! (2022). She was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her services to Literature in 2022.

Young Writers Prose – Lili Wilkinson

Lili Wilkinson is the author of seventeen books for children and teenagers. She established the Inside the Dog website and the Inky Awards at the Centre for Youth Literature, State Library of Victoria. Lili has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne, and now spends most of her time reading and writing books for teenagers. Her latest books are The Erasure Initiative and the How To Make A Pet Monster series.

Open Short Story – Nam Le

Nam Le’s first book, The Boat, was translated into 15 languages and received over a dozen major awards in Australia, America, and Europe, including the PEN/Malamud Award, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, the Dylan Thomas Prize, and the Australian Prime Minister’s Literary Award. The Boat has been republished as a modern classic and its stories internationally anthologised, adapted, and taught. In 2019, Le published On David Malouf as part of Black Inc’s "Writers on Writers" series.
