Our Boroondara Asset Plan 2025-35 outlines how we look after the spaces and infrastructure that support everyday life in Boroondara.

The 10-year plan guides how we maintain and renew our assets to keep them safe, reliable and able to meet community needs. This includes:

  • buildings and community facilities
  • sporting grounds and outdoor recreation spaces
  • parks, open spaces and streetscapes
  • drainage and stormwater systems
  • roads, lighting and paths.

The plan also outlines the costs involved and how we’ll manage them in a financially sustainable way.

Each Council is required to update their Asset Plan every 4 years through the Local Government Act 2020.

Our Asset Plan supports the goals of the Boroondara Community Plan 2025-35, which sets the vision for our city - and the Asset Plan shows how we’ll make that happen.

It also:

  • explains how we plan for and invest in our assets to meet community expectations
  • explains how we will manage assets through maintenance, renewal, acquisition, expansion or decommissioning
  • identifies trends in the condition of our infrastructure assets
  • recommends changes to improve infrastructure assets
  • gives an overview of all Council assets and their current condition.

Community consultation

We invited the Boroondara community to share their views on Boroondara’s assets.

In September 2024, 281 community members helped us rank which assets – such as parks, buildings and streets – were most important to them. People from all suburbs in Boroondara had their say.

In February and March 2025, about 150 community members were asked to consider where Council could spend more or spend less on essential infrastructure. Working in small groups, people considered 15 different asset categories and different cost scenarios.

This process allowed community members to rank areas they consider most important for funding to least important.
