The Victorian Government are seeking community feedback on the Urban Design and Landscape Plan (UDLP) for their upgrades to the Eastern Freeway between Hoddle Street and Burke Road.

The design includes a series of new elements that will impact our local community.

These include:

  • new and upgraded noise walls along the project boundary to comply with noise targets.
  • a new Shared User Path (SUP) along the northern side of the freeway. Council is continuing to advocate for mode separated paths where there is room.
  • a new bridge over the Yarra River (Birrarung) adjacent to the freeway.
  • continuation of the busway from Bulleen Road connecting to the Bulleen and Doncaster Park and Rides.
  • upgraded lighting at the underpass between Jack O’Toole Reserve and Willsmere Park.
  • a new wetland behind Jack O’Toole Reserve (North Kew Tennis Club) to treat stormwater run-off from the freeway (located on Department of Transport and Planning land).

Council officers are pleased to see significant areas of established vegetation and trees will remain where existing noise walls are being retained in this UDLP.

Have your say

We encourage you to review the designs and share your feedback with the Victorian Government before their consultation closes on Sunday 16 November 2025.

You can submit your feedback via the Victorian Government consultation page but we also want you to share your submission with us via email ([email protected]) so Council officers and Councillors can consider it when making our own submission on behalf of the community.

We want to know if you have any ideas about how these plans can make the local area better. We also want you to share your ideas with the Victorian Government.
