We’ve drafted a master plan for the areas bordered by Camberwell, Burke and Inglesby roads. The plan sets out a vision for how this section of Camberwell could look over the next 10 years and beyond, with a focus on:

  • enhancing parks, gardens and recreation areas for everyone to enjoy
  • making streets and pathways safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists
  • ensuring all facilities are welcoming and inclusive
  • preserving the precinct’s historic features.

About the master plan

The area bordered by Camberwell, Inglesby and Burke roads has a rich history. It includes a mix of modern and heritage buildings, as well as a school, churches, the library and offices. Despite its long history, it’s never had a long-term plan to guide its future.

A master plan gives Council a clear framework for guiding this area’s future. It highlights opportunities to improve specific areas for the community, including:

  • Lower Reserve - a green space with potential for more recreation facilities and improved walking and cycling connections to nearby streets and parks.
  • Reserve Road - following its temporary closure due to safety concerns raised by Camberwell Primary School, the plan explores options for this area, including surrounding parking and the potential for more open space.
  • Boroondara Civic Precinct - home to cultural, library, and community facilities. We’re proposing street, footpath and public space upgrades to make moving around easier and accessible.
  • Camberwell Road and Burke Road - we’re suggesting streetscape upgrades and safer, more enjoyable walking routes.
  • Inglesby Road - minor streetscape improvements are recommended for this  residential street to maintain its local character.
