    About the centre

You can drop off a range of items at the Boroondara Recycling and Waste Centre. Items can be for both recycling and landfill.

Non-residents may use the centre for recycling and landfill, with the exception of dropping off polystyrene or gas bottles.

If you have a specific item to dispose of, and you want to know if the Boroondara Recycling and Waste Centre will accept it, you can look it up in our A to Z recycling and waste guide.

    You can also:

    Charges

It is free to drop off recyclables, expanded polystyrene, select household detox items and small to medium electronic waste items.

Charges apply to drop off car tyres, fridges, white goods and mattresses.

A tipping charge per load applies if you are dropping off general waste (non-recyclable items and household waste) and green waste.

You can pay by cash, EFTPOS, Visa or Mastercard (no cheques).

Note: The Boroondara Recycling and Waste Centre does not accept cash at the moment. We have introduced these measures to protect you and our staff from risks associated with COVID-19. Payment can still be made by EFTPOS, Visa or Mastercard.

Tipping charges as at 1 July 2023
