You can request to cancel your household bins for general waste, recycling and FOGO while a property is being demolished and new building is underway.
Only a property owner, authorised managing agent or the owners corporation can request to cancel bins (not a tenant).
We'll collect your bins within 2 working days of receiving your request to cancel.
Please leave your bins on the nature strip. We can't collect them from driveways, laneways or private property.
Once your bins are cancelled, you forfeit all other Council kerbside collections including hard waste, bundled green waste and Christmas tree collections.
Fees
Any eligible rebates for bin fees will be applied on your rates notice after the bins are collected.
All ratepayers pay a Waste Environment Levy as a contribution towards waste collection in public places.
Cancelling your bin service doesn't exempt you from this levy, which will be applied to your rates notice until the bins are reinstated.
Bin reinstatement
We can return bins to your property at your request, when building is finished and you've shown us a Certificate of Occupancy.
