If the light is on Council-managed land, we can investigate if it’s possible to install a reflective anti-glare material, called a glare shield. You can report the issue online or by contacting us.Public lighting upgradesAnnual upgradesWe’re progressively rolling out street lighting upgrades each year, this includes both upgrading existing street lighting and installing additional lights on poles.We’ve developed a priority list of street locations for new or upgraded lighting, with works completed as allocated through our annual budget.We created the priority list of locations by assessing each location against 4 criteria to identify where upgrades are needed most, including how existing lighting compares with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1158 Lighting for roads and public spaces).LED lighting rolloutCitiPower and United Energy are replacing traditional streetlights with LED lights over the next 5 years to support higher energy efficiency. LED lights are up to 90% more efficient than traditional lighting. They have a long lifespan and display immediate, bright light.This rollout is part of a statewide planned program by the Distribution Network Service Providers (CitiPower and United Energy for Boroondara).
