Nature strips have a range of important functions, such as:

  • supporting local biodiversity
  • creating beautiful streets
  • providing space for footpaths and bin collections.

We are responsible for keeping nature strips safe and accessible, including maintaining trees on your nature strip.

You can't prune, remove or do works to a tree on a nature strip. To report a problem with a tree on your nature strip use our online form.

Request a tree on your nature strip

If you'd like a tree planted on your nature strip, use our report a maintenance issue form to request one.

Request a tree on your nature strip

We'll visit the nature strip to assess:

  • whether there's enough space for a tree
  • what type of tree would be best for your street.

After we've assessed the nature strip, we'll leave a card in your letterbox to let you know if your request was approved.

If we approve your request, we'll leave a card in your letterbox to let you know when the new tree is planted.

We plant trees between May and September each year.
