You can apply for the following information:

Regulation 51 (1) - Building details

This includes:

building permits or certificate of final inspection that have been issued in the past 10 years.
any current determinations issued under Regulation 64 (1) or exemption granted under 231 (2)
any current notice or order issued by the relevant building surveyor under these regulations or Act.

This information is required for sale of property as part of a Section 32.

Anyone can apply for this information.

Regulation 51 (2) - Property information for your private surveyor

This provides details on whether the building or land is is an area:

prone to infestation of termites (Regulation 150 / 151)
at risk of significant snowfalls (Regulation 152)
at risk of flooding (Regulation 153)
designated land or works (Regulation 154)
designated as a bushfire prone area (Reg 155).

Your building surveyor may request this as part of your building permit application. This information is required for sale of property as part of a Section 32.

Anyone can apply for this information.

Regulation 51 (3) - Inspection approval dates

This includes any approved dates of the inspections carried out of the mandatory notification stages of building work carried out on the building or land.

This information is restricted to:

the owner or mortgagee of the building or land
a prescribed building practitioner reporting on a building under section 137B of the Building Act 1993.

Copies of Building Permits and plans

A Building Permit is a legal document. It's issued before construction begins to make sure the building work meets minimum standards for builders, occupants and the public.

Building owners can request copies of Building Permit documents related to their property.

Where plans relate to buildings with multiple units, we can only provide information about the property or unit that you own. Information on other units and common areas is redacted for privacy reasons.

Fees are listed in the form and depend on what documents you need. We'll email you an invoice after you apply.

Please allow a minimum of 10 business days for a response. This allows us to research your property.
