We can provide you with ‌contact details of your neighbours in specific circumstances.

Fence owner details

You can request the name and address of a fence owner if you need to replace or repair your shared fence.

Under the Fences Act 1968 we can provide the name and address of the owner, but not their phone number or email address.

You can request fence owner details if your property and theirs share a fence, and you are:

• the property owner, or
• applying on the owner’s behalf.

If you are applying on the owner’s behalf you must supply documents, such as a Power of Attorney or a will, to show that the owner consents to you acting on their behalf.

Protection works notice to neighbours

When building or excavating near a boundary, you must ensure that neighbouring property isn't affected or damaged by your work.

Your building surveyor will decide if you should send a protection works notice to your neighbours. If they identify that a notice is needed, it's your responsibility to serve it to your neighbours.

We'll provide the contact information of neighbouring property owners after the details (including registration number) of the registered surveyor for your works are provided to us.

The fee to provide contact information is $61.50 per property requested. We'll email you an invoice after you apply.
