Content components These guidelines outline how community noticeboards may be used across Boroondara Library Service.Community noticeboards are available to share information that benefits the community. They are intended to:promote library collections, programs and services.promote Council programs and services.share information about community activities of a cultural, educational, or recreational nature.provide information about State and Commonwealth Government services.Display guidelinesNotices are displayed subject to available space. As space is limited, the Library Service cannot guarantee that all notices will be displayed. All notices must be given to staff at the library customer service desk for assessment. RequirementsAll notices must:be no larger than A4 size.clearly identify the organisation and include key details of the event or program (such as date, time and location).be well presented, with clear and readable print (no blurry or poor‑quality copies).include an English translation if the notice is written in another language, to allow staff to assess the content.What can be displayedLibrary notices related to services, activities, resources or events. Council information – public notices, immunisation schedules, programs and activities conducted by Council departments. State and Commonwealth Government information – public notices (for example major works on local roads, heat health information).Arts and cultural events and activities – concerts, film festivals, art exhibitions, school holiday programs.Educational information – public lectures, adult education classes, courses at tertiary institutions and schools and workshops.Leisure and recreational information – clubs, outdoor activities and classes. Information in community languages.What cannot be displayedMaterial that breaches legislation, including the Equal Opportunity Act 1995.Discriminatory content (for example material that’s racist, sexist, homophobic, defamatory, libellous or derogatory toward any individual or group).Political material representing specific candidates, parties or affiliations in relation to Local, State or Federal elections.Material promoting a particular political organisation, lobby group, pressure group or religious group.Petitions of any kind.Research participation requests.Commercial advertising, including fee-based services, personal classifieds and promotional material for goods or services.Personal notices, such as dating ads, flatmate searches, trading post items or lost and found notices.
