Join a book group

Want to make time for more reading in your life? No matter if you are getting back into reading, or a passionate bookworm we have everything you need with our Book Group events and resources. 

Join us for monthly book groups at Hawthorn and Kew, and Book Chats at Balwyn and Ashburton.

Stay at home and tune into Ben's Book Club and Libby Book Club, hosted online. 

Follow along with the Good Reading Magazine book club pick of the month. 

Or start your own book group with our book kits and reading recommendations. 

We host monthly book groups at Hawthorn and Kew, or you can join us for Book Chats at Balwyn and Ashburton.  Boroondara Library Service staff will read and discuss thought-provoking books with a group of passionate and enthusiastic readers.

Resources for book groups

Book group kit

Our book group kit includes 10 thought-provoking titles selected by our librarians. It also includes discussion notes and reviews when available.

Borrow a kit

To borrow a book group kit, you must have a Boroondara Library Service membership card. If you have a library card, you can:

• choose a title from the Titles you can borrow from our book group kit page
• email [email protected] to request a kit (subject to demand)
• collect your kit from any library.

Conditions of borrowing a kit

• You can borrow a book group kit for up to 42 days.
• You can return kits to any library.
• If an individual book is damaged or lost, you must pay the retail price of the item.
