Boroondara’s Summer in the Park is returning in 2021, bringing music, cinema and comedy to our stunning parks and gardens in a fun and COVID-19 safe environment.
There will be 33 free outdoor events across 6 weekends in January, February and March, 2021, covering 6 genres:
Booking is essential as audience numbers will be strictly limited.
Events will be 1.5 hours long, including 45 minutes of entertainment. Each group will be allocated an area with an umbrella and fantastic view of the performance area.

Weather
Summer in the Park will continue in mild poor weather conditions. In the event of heavy rain or storms, the event may be cancelled for safety reasons.
We are not able to reschedule cancelled events.
Toilets
All event sites have toilets within a short walking distance.
Getting there
Details of public transport and parking for each event location will be emailed in the weeks before the event.
What to bring
Bring a picnic, picnic rug and an appetite to enjoy our stunning parks and gardens.
As it is an outdoor event, make sure you bring:
- sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
- comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
We will provide an outdoor umbrella for each pod for shade.
Please be aware of any COVID-19 regulations that may be applicable on the event day.
Food and drink
Food and drink are not available to purchase from these events.
We encourage you to bring a picnic or to order take away from the many local traders near the event sites.
Alcohol is permitted. Please be mindful of laws regarding public intoxication and drink responsibly.
Seating
You are welcome to bring a lawn chair. Please note event staff may seat you in a side or rear pod, to avoid blocking the view of other guests.
Pets
You can bring your dog, but they must be on a lead and supervised at all times.
Prams and strollers
All sites are flat, with easy access for:
- prams
- strollers
- buggies.

Booking and ticket information
Summer in the Park is a COVID-Safe event. A ticket entitles you to an allocated area within the Summer in the Park space. Each ticket is only valid for a single session.
Each area (or pod) accommodates a maximum of 5 patrons and is distanced from other pods. Each pod is 2.5 m x 2.5 m and has an umbrella.
Specific pods cannot be reserved at time of booking. We will allocate your pod when you arrive on the day. Please note, the site has been designed so that you will never be more than 10 m from the performer with sound surrounding the event area.
All patrons in your pod must be associated with the ticket holder. You can have less than 5 people in your pod.
You can book one pod per transaction. Multiple transactions are allowed.
Companion Card holders
Companion Card holders are free to chaperone anyone with a ticket. We ask that they be included within the pod capacity limit.
Cancellations and changes
If you are unable to attend, email us at [email protected] with your name and booking number and let us know.
If you would like to change your booked session, you will need to:
- re-book new tickets
- contact us at [email protected] to cancel the booking you no longer require.
