About Havana Club Orquestra
Havana Club Orquestra is a vibrant mambo ensemble dedicated to reviving the irresistible sound of 1950s and 60s Cuban/New York dance music. With driving percussion, rich vocals and a big horn section, the band captures the golden-era energy of Havana’s legendary ballrooms, where mambo, salsa and cha-cha-cha once infused the warm summer's air. Their passion pays homage to classic repertoire with a fresh, contemporary spirit that keeps dancers moving and audiences fully immersed in the groove.
At the helm is musical director Alex Howroyd, a versatile multi-instrumentalist whose command of saxophone, trumpet, and flute shapes the band’s dynamic sound. Alex’s passion for Afro-Cuban music and years of experience performing across genres infuse the Orquesta with authenticity, precision and flair. Under his leadership, the ensemble delivers tight arrangements, lush harmonies and explosive solos that celebrate the timeless artistry of icons like Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Xavier Cugat, Eddie Palmieri and Machito.
Whether on stage at festivals, dance halls or intimate clubs, Havana Club Orquesta brings a fiery, feel-good atmosphere to every performance. Their mission is simple: to honour the roots of mambo and salsa while igniting a new generation of listeners with the irresistible pulse of Cuban rhythm.

Getting to Camberwell Civic Precinct festival hub
The festival hub is located just next to Camberwell Civic Centre. You can access it via Reserve Road or Inglesby Road.
Parking
Street parking is available on Reserve and Camberwell roads. Please be sure to adhere to parking signs.
Public Transport
The following transport lines have routes that pass the festival site on Camberwell Road:
Bus 612 from Box Hill Station arrives out the front of Camberwell Civic Centre
Tram 75 from Central Pier Docklands- Vermont South - arrives out the front of Camberwell Primary School, just next to the festival hub
