Title: 'Through Our Eyes' by QArt Studio #ArtistsofBoroondara

Speaker: The exhibition is called Through Our Eyes and it's exhibiting at the Town Hall Gallery.

The QArt Gallery and Studio is based in Kew so it's great to have this exhibition space in Boroondara and share it with the same community.

QArt studio is a creative space which supports the artistic practices of a group of artists. Each of the artists showcase their own perspectives, and they also have different conceptual ideas that they want to expand on. I think it's important for them to project how they're feeling and also how they see the world.

Jacob Wendt, artist: It’s through an artist's eye. It's about envisioning the mind of the artist like just to have a look just to see what ideas they come up with.

Henry Deakin, artist: Occasionally, when I'm walking to work I see lots of lorikeets and occasionally I've seen some Eastern rosellas. I think, because they are like nice and colourful like the parrots and they're interesting to paint.

Miranda Millane, artist: Matisse is like a gift he did cut outs when his eyesight was very poor. It means I can get my ideas from, but not to copy.

Sarah Gibson, artist: The colours I’ve used I'm thinking we can call it Walk in Autumn. It means how we can protect from climate changes and how we can protect our trees. I’ve been watching too much of the news.

Speaker: It's always really fun to work with them. I enjoy walking into the space. The artists come into the studio with a lot of energy and they approach their disciplines in the same optimistic manner which creates very joyful works to look at.

Each artist has a different perspective and different techniques that they like to explore and it also gives them an opportunity to present their own ideas which they can't communicate written or verbally.

Stefan Farina, artist: Fantastic to be here to see our artwork back in the exhibition.

Shelby Gardner, artist: It's a lovely feeling to see everyone's artwork here as well.

Holly Walton, artist: It looked really nice hanging on the walls. I like Lisa's one with the Bottlebrush and the birds, very Australian.

Henry: I think it does work all together and I think it's really good that each painting is very individual.

Speaker: I think they’re always just so confident and proud of each other. And also they've been together at the studio for a very long time now so they're just happy to see each other's careers really take off.
