We are celebrating ten years of community exhibitions at Town Hall Gallery. Over the past ten years we have shown 110 exhibitions through the Town Hall Gallery Community Exhibitions program. This has included over 2900 artworks by more than 690 artists. The name of the show was From Nowhere to Here signifying that it was my first solo show my first introduction So from where I started to where I was at that point. I came into Town Hall Gallery actually looking for activities for my children so I went and I liked the Facebook page a couple of weeks later it popped up that they had community exhibitions. My kids are a little bit older now and so I have more time and It was just a really good, open, welcoming place to try and start again. Trying to be, like do art and find some sort of like personal voice was quite hard it was this really great opportunity to be like, oh I can be vulnerable with my story I have things that are important to say. I really enjoyed the personal approach that the curatorial team had you really felt valued from the start and they took an interest in the work and more so how it was going to be presented and how that would work best for the show. The Community Exhibitions program has helped facilitate  over $142,000 of art sales directly back to local artists of Boroondara. I think the biggest thing I learned was how going about organizing an exhibition works  the detail, the organization, the planning, where things will hang, all that sort of stuff. Since that show I've been in I think five or six more exhibitions  actually got a highly commended thing and an art prize. It really just upped my courage. I would recommend for people to do this exhibition program you get a lot of support, you get a lot of belief in you and what you have to do. because the process is so gentle and nice that you'll be really grateful that you showed up for yourself and you'll love seeing your work on the walls. We look forward to continuing to welcome a range of local creatives both emerging and established to exhibit works through our Community Exhibitions program  into the future.
