Content components The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC) has been at the heart of community volunteering for over 30 years. Established in response to the growing need for volunteer support and coordination, the BVRC continues to connect individuals with meaningful opportunities, fostering a thriving culture of volunteerism in Boroondara.Our impact and reachThe BVRC is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse volunteer community. Our free services connect volunteers with organisations, ensuring accessible opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities. We also support local organisations in building inclusive, well-managed programs that enhance community engagement. By breaking down barriers to volunteering, we empower everyone to contribute meaningfully and help create a stronger, more connected community. Expand all Collapse all 2025–2026 Key impact figures 2111 prospective volunteers were assisted to find meaningful volunteer opportunities. Of these prospective volunteers 70% were female, 26% were from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background, 34% were students, 3% people with disability and 10% were aged over 60.901 skilled professionals registered to volunteer their skills with the Boroondara Volunteer Skills Bank. The BVRC processed 130 requests from organisations to connect with skilled professionals registered on the Skills Bank.2988 role referrals were made through the centre’s volunteer portal, phone or face-to-face appointments with clients.3968 expressions of interest were received for volunteer roles promoted on behalf of local volunteer-involving organisations and council volunteer programs.12 workshops were delivered to volunteers and volunteer leaders to strengthen their knowledge and skills in their respective roles, with 198 attendances across all sessions.5 Volunteer Leader Network Meetings (online and in-person) were held, with 153 attendees across all meetings.14 council-run volunteer programs supported the community with 507 active volunteers.400-plus local organisations were supported through BVRC membership.600 attendees and 40 community organisations attended the annual Boroondara Volunteer Expo in March 2026.BVRC delivered the International Volunteer Managers Day Forum on 30 October 2025, attended by 103 participants, featuring international keynote speaker Faiza Venzant, CVA (Executive Director of the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration, USA), alongside guest panellists from local community organisations and interactive sessions on bold leadership and goal setting.The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC) hosted the 2026 Boroondara Volunteer Awards during National Volunteer Week in May 2026, with an attendance of 180 community members and guests. The awards recognised outstanding contributions across several categories, with 18 nominations received for Volunteer of the Year and 5 nominations for the Volunteer Program Innovation & Inclusion Award. In addition, 37 volunteers were honoured withYears of Service Awards, acknowledging 20, 30, 40, and 50 years of dedicated service.BVRC participated in 21 pop-up stalls, community events, presentations and talks to raise awareness of its service and connect people with volunteering opportunities. 2024–2025 Key impact figures 2,026 prospective volunteers were assisted to find meaningful volunteer opportunities.
