Event details
Join us for this Saturday afternoon Galleries talk with architect and academic Jarrod Haberfield as he explores the notion of ‘succession’ in the arc of the house-museum lifecycle.
Looking to international examples, we find there's no standard approach for collectors when leaving their homes. At one extreme there’s a collection frozen in time by an act of parliament and at the other, a collection installed in a new building designed to mimic the old building from whence it was moved.
In between these extremes there’s the Lyon Housemuseum, which embraces a tightrope walk between permanence and evolution. The talk coincides with the reopening of the Housemuseum and Galleries - 2 formerly separate buildings now conjoined.
We’re assured of a rich discussion on a complex topic at a very special moment in time in the Q and A to follow.
Ticket includes admission to the current exhibition at the Housemuseum Galleries.
