Throughout October, the Y at Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Facilities is offering free community sessions to celebrate and support seniors in our community. Activities include chair yoga, an active movers class, adult gymnastics​ and a falls prevention workshop. 

Falls prevention session

A practical, interactive workshop exploring movements and strategies to prevent falls and improve mobility.

Topics include:

  • Staying active to remain physically and mentally strong
  • Building muscle strength, balance​ and core stability
  • Safe ways to get up from a chair or the floor
  • Improving mobility and functional reach
  • Recognising personal risk factors and health conditions
  • Considering the role of medications, lighting​ and vision
  • Boosting motivation by choosing enjoyable activities
  • Suitable for all fitness levels, no prior experience needed.
