City of Boroondara is culturally and linguistically rich, with residents born in over 150 countries and more than 121 languages spoken at home. 

With such a multicultural heritage, City of Boroondara is proud to support and celebrate this year’s Cultural Diversity Week, running from 18 to 24 March.

What's on this year

A series of fun, in-person events and activities are being run to mark this year's Cultural Diversity Week, inviting the community to connect with the many people and backgrounds that make up our City.

Events and performances include:

  • ‘Dish’ exhibition at Town Hall Gallery – Wednesday 7 February to Saturday 27 April
  • ‘Dumpling Deliciousness: Textile workshop’ – Tuesday 19 March
  • ‘Toranj’ classical Persian music – Tuesday 19 March
  • Flying Kites Around the World – Wednesday 20 March
  • ‘Mare Profundo’ music and poetry – Thursday 21 March
  • ‘Black Jesus Experience’ – multicultural music – Friday 22 March
  • Melbourne Scottish Fiddlers – Saturday 23 March.

‘My Arts My Culture’

Experience ‘My Arts My Culture,’ an online exhibition celebrating the rich diversity of arts and culture of 7 artists connected to Boroondara.

The online exhibition, originally created in 2021, features short films, stories and digital illustrations to engage community members of all ages to understand each artist’s varied journey and how their cultural influences informed them and their art practice.
