Content components Criminal incident data was sourced from the Crime Statistics Agency.In the year ending December 2025 Victoria Police recorded 7,986 criminal incidents that took place in Boroondara. Despite the rate increasing, While its criminal incoident rate has increased, Boroondara has the sixth lowest rate per capita among all metropolitan Melbourne local government areas. Boroondara’s criminal incident rate has been considerably lower than Victoria’s for the last 10 years (Figure 1). Figure 1: Boroondara has fewer criminal incidents per 100,000 population than Victoria. Most recorded criminal incidents in Boroondara are property and deception incidents (Figure 2) with an 11.4% increase in the past 12 months. The most frequently recorded criminal incident subgroup in Boroondara in the year ending December 2025 was steal from a motor vehicle (Figure 3), which saw a 24.7% increase in the last 12 months. The top 10 principal offence subgroups remained consistent with the September 2025 results. A reduction in incidents was observed for both stealing from a retail store (-110 incidents) and non-residential non-aggravated burglary (-44 incidents).
