We’re expanding and connecting our network of shared paths for walking, running and riding. This will make it easier for everyone to move around more sustainably.
The Greenways Plan was endorsed by councillors at a Council meeting on Monday 26 October 2026.
Early planning, scoping and design is now underway for priority projects which have budget allocated over the first 4 years of the implementation plan.

We received 1,342 contributions during the greenways consultation earlier this year. Thank you to everyone who shared ideas, comments and local knowledge. You provided feedback on 53 proposed new links, including off-road and street-based links. Your input has helped us finalise the Greenways Plan.
Community feedback plus further desktop and site investigations by officers informed the refinement of the Greenways network map – the key plank of the Greenways Plan.
Reflecting our plans for the next 10 years, the Greenways network map contains 66 paths/links. We're prioritising 19 of these links for design and construction over the next 4 years.

We will keep the community informed and let you know when we’re consulting on street-based links near you. Feedback on street-based links will help inform the final design before works proceed.
