There’s something rewarding about giving a much-loved item a second chance - and that’s what our free Repair and Reuse Community Day on Saturday 21 March is all about.

This event invites you to bring your broken or worn household items to be repaired instead of replaced. You’ll get hands-on advice and expert help to give your everyday items a new lease on life, as well as tips to help you continue repairs at home.

On-the-day donations 

In addition to repairing your items, you can also donate a range of pre-loved items (in good condition) at this event to keep them out of landfill and give them a new home:

• Children’s bikes - suitable for primary school-aged children
• EpiPens - expired and unused, for first aid training
• Reusable gift bags
• Glasses and hearing aids
• Plastic mail satchels - neatly cut open for small business reuse
• Puzzles - under 1,000 pieces
• Paw Patrol and Octonauts playsets or figurines
• Reusable coffee cups with lids
• Reusable tissue paper
• Unused and unopened toiletries for rehoming.

‘Not your run of the mill’ recycling

We’ll also be accepting several items that can be recycled but can’t go in your kerbside recycling bin. You’re welcome to bring the following items on the day and we’ll recycle them the right way for you:

• Illegal fruit netting (larger than 5mm by 5mm)
• Corks
• Empty makeup and skin-care containers
• Plastic bread tags
• Printer and ink cartridges
• Unrepairable clothes in small, household quantities.
