Print full document Table of contents Content Borrowings historyDuring the 2012–13 financial year, we borrowed $29 million to fund major building works. The borrowings were at a fixed interest rate for 10 years and we were due to repay this in full in 2022–23. However, during the 2022–23 financial year, we reviewed our existing loan portfolio and refinanced the rest of this loan for another 10 years. We expect to repay all existing borrowings by 2033.Existing borrowingsDuring the 2023–24 year, we made $8.12 million in principal repayments on existing borrowings. This means that on 30 June 2024, our total borrowings will be $77.22 million. The projected cost of servicing these borrowings is $8.46 million during 2024–25.Future borrowing strategyOur borrowing strategy is to pay off existing debt over time so that we can look at new borrowings for significant infrastructure projects for the community. This strategy allows us to invest in new infrastructure while paying off our debts. We will look at different borrowing strategies for each area of planned borrowings as they become due.Future proposed borrowings The following table sets out our future proposed borrowings, based on our forecast position on 30 June 2024.Financial year endingNew borrowingsPrincipal paidInterest expenseBalance 30 June202408,117,0003,408,00077,216,000202508,460,0003,063,00068,755,000202608,819,0002,703,00059,936,000202708,659,0002,353,00051,277,000202809,015,0001,996,00042,262,000202909,386,0001,625,00032,876,000203009,773,0001,239,00023,103,0002031010,175,000836,00012,928,0002032010,594,000417,0002,334,000203302,334,00069,000020340000Total085,332,00017,709,000 Statement of borrowings IndicatorForecast Actual 2023–24Budget 2024–25Total amount borrowed as at 30 June of the prior year85,333,00077,216,000Total amount to be borrowed00Total amount projected to be redeemed8,117,0008,460,000Amount of borrowings 30 June77,216,00068,756,000 Pagination links Priority Projects Council Budget 2024–25 Leases in our community
